Auaha STEAM has been set up for MNS learners so that they can explore and be curious. It is a place for thinking, planning, making, tinkering and trying new things.
Design Thinking is a big part of STEAM and we've set up the tables with all sorts of materials that will aid this thinking process.
Upon startup, we have a set of 15 Sphero Bolt robots. These robots are adaptable and can teach many concepts related to computational thinking as well as provide opportunities to be innovative.
Our most powerful computing machine is located in Auaha STEAM. We'll use this to explore some higher-end applications that require more computing power.
We have 10 touch screen devices in Auaha STEAM. These will be used for a variety of things, including, but not limited to: Sphero, Coding, Minecraft and Digital Creation.
We've purchased a variety of tools that can be used for a variety of purposes. Some of these tools require close supervision for safety, while others are completely safe to use independently.
Michael has kindly let the MNS Auaha STEAM space use some of his Lego for 2019. Lego is one of best (if not the best) for creative expression. The Lego will be used frequently in Auaha STEAM and beyond.
Auaha STEAM will constantly be using a variety of materials for building and prototyping. We will be replenishing the items and looking for donations of recycled materials for us in our learner. A list of requested donations will soon be made available.
Kits that can be used in the Kainga will live in Auaha STEAM. We have Makey Makeys, OSMOs, Bee Bots and Edison Robots among other things.
