1. Track and field is a team sport, and therefore at times, you might be asked to try an event for the sake of the team’s success and not your own.
2. All of the Mattawan track and field coaches are to be respected and honored, at all times, not just when you think they are right (high school and middle school).
3. If you have a concern about something, you will speak directly and respectfully to the person involved (the teammate or the coach).
4. Use appropriate language at all times.
5. Be respectful to all bus drivers and abide by all of their bus rules. Do not leave out the back door of the bus.
6. Attendance at all practices and meets are mandatory; no excuses will be accepted without filling out the absence form. Work, band practice, participation in musicals or other sporting activities may be a valid excuse. Too much homework is not. 2 unexcused absences may excuse you from the team.
7. If you are not going to be at practice, you must fill out he Google Absence Form on Google Classroom by 1:00pm the day of the absence. You must also contact Coach DeGroff in person or text. Telling a teammate is not sufficient notice.

8. Always wear appropriate school logo sweats & uniforms, and appropriate T-shirts during meets.
9. I clearly understand the varsity requirements-score 6 or more points for the team.
10. Abide by the Mattawan Athletic Code.
11. Ride the team bus to and from all meets, unless there is a special circumstance, which you clear in advance with the coaches.
12. The middle school track and field athletes have just as much right to the track and field facilities as you do; therefore be kind and respectful to them at all times.
13. Abide by all track and field safety rules at all times and will model appropriate behavior for the jr. high track athletes.
14. Understand that team warm-up is important and follow the warm-up as instructed.
15. Workouts are given for a purpose and complete the workout as directed.
16. I will be responsible for gathering my field event apparatus to and from the bus and or the shed for both meets and practice.
17. Attend class during the school day at all times; pass all classes; and behave appropriately at all times.
18. Be proud to represent Mattawan High School as a track and field athlete, and therefore
your behavior will always reflect that pride.
Failure to uphold any part of this agreement may result in a lot of burpees, suspension for a meet, or the loss of my place in a relay or special event, or removal from the team.
