The integrative "approach" may look similar to traditional orthopedic PT, or it may have a totally different feel depending on your specific needs. I am known to shift throughout my sessions to incorporate elements of both traditional and unique, collaborative ideas that are meant to address your needs in that particular therapy session. I always strive to present evidence-informed, research-backed therapeutic interventions, but sometimes we just need to be creative and move in a different way! Integrative PT strives to be whole-person centered and values body mind spirit connection with movement.
I have a board certification in Pelvic and Women's Health, which means I have special training in musculoskeletal conditions specific to womanhood. Pregnancy, menarche, and menopause are all chapters that I am interested in and in which I have clinical expertise.
Our first meeting is an evaluation. During this session, I will listen to you tell me about your goals and we will break down what's getting in the way of you accomplishing them. We will perform some movement tests, which may include traditional strength or range of motion testing. I will get an idea of where the pain driver appears to be and decide if I can be of service to you. If you are having pelvic pain, you have the option of receiving a pelvic evaluation, which includes muscle testing of the pelvic floor. This is always optional! Every piece of the evaluation requires your consent, and I hope to build an established trust with you to help you break through the barriers that are holding you back.
Treatment plans are written after the initial evaluation - I will give you an estimate of how many sessions would be appropriate for your specific condition. If you are interested in maintenance yoga sessions or strength training when our plan has expired, we can discuss these as well.
