Teacher Bio

I am from Minneapolis, Minnesota and a graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where I received a B.A. degree in Psychology. After graduation, I earned a Master’s degree in elementary education from Boston College. My passion for teaching is boundless. I have taught grades Pre-K-6, elementary Spanish, art, and environmental science for more than 20 years. In 2008, Kristen started her own environmental literacy, library-based program called Wildthings. I believe that reading is not only the cornerstone of academic success, but essential to a child's social and emotional well-being. In my spare time, I love hiking, birding, fossil hunting, writing and illustrating picture books, and spending time with her two grown sons. This year, I will be working on my Master Naturalist's certification to enhance my knowledge of the Vermont's local ecology and natural history.
