We are a 5th grade homeroom that is home to Math and Science classes for both 5th grades. We also host 4th grade Technology twice a week.

About me

Hello! My name is Miss Shields! This is my fifth-year teaching at Mater Christi School.

I am a 5th grade homeroom teacher who teaches Math and Science to both fifth grade homerooms. I also am the Technology course teacher for all Intermediate Students (4th and 5th graders).

I have a wide range of interests and hobbies. I ride horses, crochet, read, play video games, and write books, play the violin, and experiment with various baking recipes. I have a menagerie of animals at home including but not limited to, birds, dogs, cats, and reptiles.

I also practice American Sign Language and train parrot tricks!

In summer of 2025, one of our class pets, Traveler the Leopard Gecko, passed away. He will be missed by the many students and teachers who loved and cuddled him during his four years as a class pet at MCS. Rest In peace buddy.
