Every Day:
Check your student's assignment book and ask to see completed assignments
Sign the assignment book if all homework is completed.
Every Friday or end-of-week:
Check your student's purple folder and go through the work that was returned over the course of the week.
Once you've finished looking at the returned work, sign the form inside the purple folder and return the folder to school.
Once every couple weeks:
Check the Portal online to see your student's current averages.
Contact the subject teacher with questions or concerns on assignments.
Homework Rules-to-Remember:
The goal for intermediate students is that they have no more than 60 minutes of homework each day.
Students have study hall in school following recess to get a head start on homework
All students are required to complete 20 minutes of silent reading at home. The daily silent reading cannot be completed at school. (NOTE: Listening to an audiobook or a caregiver reading out loud is permissable, but the student must follow along in their own copy of the book).
It is never an expectation that students are spending multiple hours on homework regularly. If your child is spending extensive amounts of time on homework, please reach out to their homeroom teacher.
