Welcome to Mid-America Theatre Conference (MATC) 2026! We are so glad that you are here. Is this your first time attending MATC, or an academic conference in general? Are you unsure of where to start? This is the page for you!
Click through the tabs below to learn more about what you can expect at MATC, as well as any tips and tricks to make the experience one to remember!
MATC begins the morning of Thursday, March 5, 2026, and concludes on the evening of Saturday, March 7, 2026. The conference hotel is the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Suites in downtown Pittsburgh, PA.
Panels begin as early as 10:00 AM on Thursday and conclude by Saturday evening. In addition to panels, there are several all-conference events, including a luncheon, a panel featuring Pittsburgh theatre artists, and an opening night reception.
All participants need to be members of MATC at the time of their presentation and must register for the conference. To ensure a seamless arrival, there are few things we suggest doing:
Annual Membership/Registration: $400 (Early Bird discount is $300, use code early26 before February 2, 2026).
Graduate Student Registration: $80
Peruse the conference schedule! Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are filled with things to do. See who's coming, what papers/presentations are being given, what exciting events are planned, etc.
Identify folks to network with ahead of time and maybe send an e-mail! ("Good afternoon Dr. XYZ, I'm excited to attend your paper at MATC!...") This is a great way to make connections and put your name out there.
If you're presenting, make a good faith effort to have your paper done BEFORE you begin your travel. We know this is not always possible, but if you can, you'll be so happy knowing you're ready to go!
