Email Communication Policy (rev 11/2023)
The following rules apply:
Instructors will not reply to any student attempting to be anonymous.
All students sending an email need to be aware that all e-mail messages are public domain (not private) and therefore are subject to discovery in legal matters and can be made available to the general public. Remember that email messages sent from any domain can be traced.
Patient data, patient identifiers and other sensitive personal health information must not be transmitted electronically (i.e. via email).
Students must check their school email daily, as this is the primary mode of communication amongst faculty, staff and students. Lack of attention to school communications is a violation of the Civility Standard (as stated in the Healthcare Pathway Student Handbook).
Forwarding of a student’s MATC email account to a third party provider, such as Yahoo, is not permitted.
A student who sends e-mail messages containing language that is abusive, vulgar or otherwise inappropriate will be referred to the Dean of the Healthcare Pathway.
Students must not send emails or post information online or via social media that is inflammatory in nature.
Students must not send repetitive or argumentative emails to a classmate, faculty member or administrator that may be reasonably interpreted as harassment of the recipient.
It is illegal to use another person’s email; students must not share their passwords with others.
Consequences for any of the above instances may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal, pursuant to the Civility Standard in the Healthcare Pathway Student Handbook.
