HESI Assessment Next Generation Remediation Policy (rev. 03/28/2022)
Purpose
This policy provides guidelines for standardized testing and remediation processes using the HESI (Health Education Systems, Inc.) examinations. The purpose of remediation is to improve student’s nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, and test taking strategies. Following HESI Speciality and Exit Exams, students are required to remediate and the remediation requirements are dependent on each individual student’s HESI score for each exam. HESI exam scores can be indicative of the student’s level of risk for success in the program and on NCLEX.
Remediation Process
All students must participate in the remediation activities based on the "HESI Remediation Requirements Based on Score" below.
The deadline for completion will be indicated by your course calendar and/or clinical instructor.
This assignment is mandatory and you will be awarded points based on the clinical course grading criteria. Your clinical instructor will be reviewing and verifying completion of your remediation assignment.
Each student must meet with their clinical instructor to discuss their individual remediation plan and due dates at the beginning of their clinical course.
Online remediation is a service to help you identify and work on your areas of improvement after taking the HESI test or before taking a HESI retest.
Students receive their HESI Exam reports and correlating online remediation within 48 hours of the exam being closed. From their HESI Exam student report, students can develop their personal plan for remediation. Students will list specific activities they will complete in order to understand their missed concepts/content.
After your exam, you will receive an email through your MATC email account directing you to the Evolve main page. Login to your Evolve account.
Click ‘HESI Assessment Next Generation - Student Access’.

To help understand your HESI reports go to https://evolve.elsevier.com/studentlife/hesi.html

If you do not have or haven’t seen the HESI assessment as described above, please contact your clinical instructor promptly to discuss an alternative remediation plan.

***When using Evolve Adaptive Quizzing as remediation after HESI exams make sure you are creating Custom Exams and not Mastery Exams. Additionally, it is advised that quizzes should be created selecting only one content area for each weakness area (as opposed to combining multiple topic areas into a quiz with more questions). At completion of each quiz, take a screenshot that displays the date / time quiz taken, the results of your quiz and the topic. The screenshot for each quiz and the results must be sent to faculty to demonstrate completion of the requirement.
