Steps to register for ESL/ELL classes at the Downtown campus:
All students must take a placement test called TABE-E Reading test.
This is a 30 minute reading test.
Students can make an appointment with the Testing Center by calling 414-297-6233 or emailing assessment@matc.edu
After completing the test, students can make an appointment with an ESL/ELL advisor
Advisors will help students register for classes and pay online.
ESL Spring classes downtown will meet online and in-person. Students can pick which classes they'd like to take.
Day and evening classes begin around the end of January and end mid-May.
Day classes will be held between 8:00AM - 2:00PM.
Evening classes will be held between 6:30PM - 8:30PM.
Saturday class includes Pronunciation.

Day and evening classes begin mid-June and will end in July 17.
Day classes will be held between 9:00AM - 11:30AM.
Evening classes will be held between 6:30PM - 8:30PM.

The ESL program serves students living in Milwaukee and includes resident aliens, refugees, and U.S. Citizens. Read more about the ESL/ELL program on MATC's ESL/ELL website.
If you have an F1 Visa, you may not study ESL/ELL at MATC because it is not an intensive ESL program (IEP). If, however, you would like to study in a college program at MATC, please contact our international advisor Karla Huerta and visit MATC's international student website for more information.
