Start your career in the exciting field of emergency medical services by enrolling in our Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program at Milwaukee Area Technical College. This comprehensive technical diploma includes 252 hours of instruction and seven academic credits.
Our EMT course gives you the hands-on clinical experience you need to navigate a variety of real-world emergencies. You will gain practical experience in key procedures such as patient assessment, wound care, and basic life support.
The development of critical thinking skills is at the heart of our curriculum. You'll learn to quickly assess and respond to patients' needs, as well as manage emergencies with confidence and poise. Our course prepares you to make critical, life-saving decisions under duress.
We also cover the fundamentals of pathophysiology, allowing you to understand the underlying causes of medical emergencies. This comprehension is critical for providing effective and appropriate pre-hospital care.
Our EMT course, which balances theory and hands-on practice, prepares you not only for the immediate challenges of the field but also for the cognitive exams required for EMT certification.
We offer classes at both our Mequon and Oak Creek campuses during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Applications for admission can be submitted at any time, but registration and placement are done on a first-come, first-served basis. This program currently utilizes an admission waiting list.
