Lion is Saroo's Brierley's personal account of finding himself tragically lost from his family at the young age of 5 years old. His journey back to his birth mother 25 years later is a truly amazing story. It explores many motifs such as family, survival, poverty, obsession, adoption as well as destiny. This book kept me engaged and captivated. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
The description and the experiences shown in the book truly give a great insight into what slavery was to experience and the adventure which takes place in the latter half of the book is a relieving but nonetheless exciting change of pace.
This book pulls on the heart strings. Amazingly detailed, compassionate and beautifully written, this book speaks powerfully about the reality of being a slave and the struggle to be free.
Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian science fiction book. It was written as a warning of what could happen if media gets out of hand and society gets to the point where human interaction and connection is no longer valued. It describes a society where people are treated like machines, doctors act only as mechanics for the human body, will to do what needs to be done to fix it but uncare. It shows how the constriction of information can lead to an ignorant and apathetic society. How it can lead to people doing their job never questioning whether what they do is right or wrong. It is an interesting book and raises great questions about the current state of society, and how little it would take to get to one equivalent to that which is laid out in the book. It is a good book to read if you like dystopian society and chilling questions about where today’s culture could lead. It is an interesting book to read, even more so when you’re reading beside a campfire.
This book is similar to the movie in the sense that as the reader and audience, you get to follow Forrest and see into his mind and how he sees the world and the people in it. This is a relaxing book with ups and downs, filled with life lessons and different views on the world. Forrest is a simple man, and finds himself in many odd situations over the course of the novel. I recommend this book to anyone from grade 10 and up. Some themes are slightly adult, but the reading level is not difficult. It's very easy to follow along with Forrest as he narrates.
This book is definitely an amazing read. Adam Silvera does a great job of hooking you to the plot instantly. I read this book in just a couple of days and it was well worth it. The story will 100% get you in the feels but it's a wonderful book to read in your off time. Would recommend to anyone looking for an easy to read, but well put together book.
From the moment I read the first couple chapters, I knew this story would be a meaningful one. It took a heartbreaking moment and turned it into pure poetry. This book is proof that there can be beauty in the unplanned and that it's sometimes the unexpected which makes life worth living.
I liked Silent to the Bone because it was a mystery book and it had lots of twists that I wasn't expecting. It kept me interested and I liked that it wasn't a 600 page book. The author did a great job of describing the text and it felt like you were in the book. You could picture the characters the places and the scenes almost like a movie. I would recommend this book to my friends.
Leviathan Wakes is a stellar sci-fi book taking place in 2350 when humans have made space travel not only viable but common. James Holden is the XO of an ice miner taking a routine trip through an asteroid belt when he stumbles upon a deserted ship. He finds himself in possession of a secret he never wanted. This discovery may well have just started an interstellar war... with James in the middle of it.
