My name is Heather MacCorkle. This is my second year at MaST, but not my first year teaching. Until 2024, I taught high school English at Jim Thorpe Area High School. I taught AP Lit, Creative Writing, Introduction to Poetry, and general English classes. Last year, I taught 8th Grade ELA, and this year, I am excited to teach 10th grade again!
I am a Philadelphia native. In 1989, I graduated from Central High School (248th class). In 1993, I graduated with a degree in History from Holy Family University. Since then, I have gone on to acquire two Master's degrees in Education, and am currently enrolled in an MFA program for Creative Writing through Southern New Hampshire University. In other words, I am a lifelong learner.
Before I became a teacher, I was in the business world for over 20 years. I found my niche in training others to use software. I finally brought that understanding of adult learning to the K-12 space and have not looked back since.
It is my sincere hope that everyone will have a fantastic year!
