What is instrumental music?
Our instrumental music program supports the study of music making through instruments. See the second page of this flyer for links on what is needed to get started on each instrument group that we offer.
Who Can Participate
Students in grades 4 through 12 are eligible to study any of the instruments we offer. 3rd Grade students are offered a separate program where they can study either the instruments of the orchestra, ukulele, or participate in an Orff ensemble.
Enrollment & Lessons
Enrollment for our instrumental music program begins in June and ends at the start of the school year. Be sure to look out for this information at the end of this school year.
Lessons occur during the school day as a pull out program. Musicians are expected to maintain their grades and complete any classwork they miss.
Time Commitments
Before and after school time commitments vary depending on the instrument. Participation in orchestra, guitar ensemble, and concert band are mandatory for students who study instruments that perform in those ensembles.
Students in orchestra, guitar ensemble, and concert band commit to a winter and spring concert (including tech rehearsals) as well as before/after school rehearsals (4-6 in the morning, 7-12 in the afternoon).
Beginners will not perform in the winter concert and will join their respective ensemble in January.Â
