This month in Kindergarten, we are exploring colors through the artwork of Jasper Johns! Students will practice their letters while learning about primary and secondary colors. These activities will prepare us for next month, when we experiment with mixing colors and discovering how new colors are made.
In first grade, we are celebrating International Dot Day with the story The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds! Through this inspiring book, students are learning that creativity starts with a single mark. We are also reviewing the basics of color theory, discovering how artists use colors to express ideas and feelings.
In 2nd grade, we are creating colorful cityscapes color wheels! Students are reviewing primary and secondary colors and using them in their artwork. Later, we will expand our study to explore complementary colors and how artists use them to make contrast in their work.
