Classical Vocal Solo Competition

Reporting Time : 9:30 AM

Venue: Boston Sri KaliKambal Shiva Temple; 5 North Main Street, Unit A-2, Bellingham, MA 02019 (separate entrance available)

General Guidance

• Please report on time at the venue (No exceptions for delay)

• Your item number will be given to you when you check in at the venue on the day of the performance 

• Participants going over the time limit in the rules will incur a 1 point penalty for every 10 to 30 secs over time limit.

• Judges’ Decision and Results are FINAL

• Participants must be within the age range as of January 1st, 2026 for all competitions  

• Please come fully dressed in appropriate festive Indian Stage Attire and be prepared to go on stage for the time slots given                  

 Common Rules

• Shruthi Box to be bought by the student

• No seeing and singing

• Song Selection includes Keerthana, Krithis, Varnam or Thillana (No Geetham OR Swarajathi)

• Language : Indian Languages (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada or Sanskrit) 

• Age Group, Age category, Duration of Performance

  1.  8 to 10 years; Sub- Juniors; 5 minutes

  2. 11 to 13 years; Juniors; 6 minutes 

  3. 14 to 17 years; Seniors : 8 minutes 

  4. 18 years and above : Adult 6 to 8 minutes

• Shruthi 10 marks

• Thalam 10 marks

• Presentation (Pronunciation and Diction) 10 marks

• Complexity of the composition 10 Marks

• Mano Dharmam (optional) will score more points
