My name is Nicole Lowery and I provide academic support alongside teachers in general education classrooms. I am excited to be working with the students, parents and staff at Massac County High School. Helping each student progress toward their high school and post-secondary goals- academically, socially, and emotionally—is a challenge that I am honored to accept daily. I strive to create supports that nurture their growth in a positive environment.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Education from SIUC in 2009. I received my Master's in Special Education and LBS1 certification from Murray State University in 2019. I am certified in Illinois and Kentucky. This will be my seventh year teaching. Previously, I taught Special Education at Meridian High School for three years. Before that, I worked with adults with a range of disabilities. I have also taught in a variety of other roles and have worked as a child and family advocate. I truly love my students and families and am so grateful to have found what I'm passionate about.
Although originally from Houston, Texas, I have called Metropolis home for the past twenty nine years. Along with my wonderful husband, Matt, we have raised our two (now adult) children in Massac County. We love exploring Southern Illinois and trying out new places to eat. I also love being active outdoors, listening to music, and spending time with my family.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child this school year!
