Below is the outline for how positive and negative behavior will be handled in your student's 2nd grade classroom.
In order to guarantee each student an excellent learning climate, our class will use the following rules for the 2024-25 school year. I expect all students to behave appropriately at all times. I will make every attempt to recognize good behavior. At the same time, I will not tolerate any behavior by a student that disrupts the learning of other students or jeopardizes the safety of any student.
Always be kind.
Listen to your teacher the first time.
Listen when someone is talking.
Raise your hand before you speak.
Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
Use materials sensibly.
Leave the room only if you have permission.
Star Behavior
Your student will exhibit star behavior each and every day by beginning the day with his/her name on green. If their clip remains on green, this indicates positive behavior. If he/she exhibits negative behavior, he/she will be given a warning by moving his/her clip to a yellow. A yellow warning will result in the classroom rules being sent home to be written 5 times each and returned to school the next day along with a 10 point deduction in the weekly grade . If the negative behavior persists, then the student will be asked to move his/her clip to an orange. A move to orange will result in a further deduction from the weekly conduct grade. Finally, if your student continues making poor choices, he/she will move their clip to red. A student's name on red will result in a referral to the principal’s office to discuss the negative behavior. Also, home contact will be made by text remind each time your child makes poor behavior choices.
