Mississippian Culture built large earthen mounds in their villages and cities.
Cahokia was the largest Mississippian city.
Mississippian Culture declined and disappeared around 1400, nearly 100 years before Columbus discovered America.
Irrigation allowed the Native Americans to farm and stay in one place.
