1: What is an academic team?
To enhance the middle school experience, each grade level is broken down into three separate teams. These teams are cohorts for learning and growing as individuals. Teams provide an equal education, however, each team brings it own unique value to the school. While students will learn the same material on each team, they are able to get special attention with their own group of teachers.
2: What is the Pioneer team's beliefs?
We defined a Pioneer as "a person who begins or helps develop something new and prepares the way for others to follow". Our motto encompasses that definition by stating that, "together, we are growing skills that will prepare us to explore a world filled with possibilities".
3: Who should I email about team related questions?
While any teacher can help, your first email should go to our team leader, Mrs. Kowker (tkowker@mbgsd.org).
4: Who should I email about specific concerns about my student?
If it is about one class that your student is struggling in, you can email the teacher directly. If you have overall concerns about your student, please contact the school counselor, Ms. Normand (ENormand@mbgsd.org).
5: Where can I check my student's grades?
Grades are posted on a website called Sapphire. Your parent/guardian login should have been given to you from the office. If you need your username or password, please email or call the main office.

6: Where can I see assignments?
Each teacher has their own way of presenting and/or giving assignments. However, most teachers have a Google Classroom where they post updates, assignments, and resources. If you are interested in viewing the virtual classroom, please have your student add you in the classroom as their parent/guardian.
7: What is a lunch detention?
Lunch detentions are given to students due to poor behavior, attitudes, failure to follow the Cats Code, or any reason deemed irresponsible by the teacher or administrator. Students serve this detention during lunch in a designated location. Too many lunch detentions can result in future automatic after school detention for poor behavior. All detentions are handled case-by-case.
8: What is an after school detention?
After school detentions are given to students due to poor behavior, attitudes, failure to follow the Cats Code, or any reason deemed irresponsible by the teacher or administrator. Students serve this detention after school from 3:40pm-5:10pm and need to be picked up by a parent/guardian. During this time, students may read or work on homework. All detentions are handled case-by-case.
