Started period ensuring students understood the concepts of Adaptation and Niche. Adaption video, Habitat vs Niche video
Launch two possible phenomena:
Sugar Glider and Flying Squirrels (Flying squirrel video, sugar glider video)
Bat wing and human hand (bat flight video, bat wing skeleton)
Students will be assigned one of these phenomenon and then decide upon three Crosscutting Concepts that are evident in their phenomenon. This is homework due tomorrow. This assignment will be submitted as an answer to a Google Question. Students may work in groups of up to three.
Students in groups begin to focus on their final project, creating their model and explanation. Special attention will be paid to TIME and the fact that ancestors change during this time for reasons determined by the environment.
For homework, students will write middle school friendly definitions for the FOUR (4) vocabulary words that are listed in their document. Students will create a document that shows these definitions which the teacher will check at the start of class tomorrow.
