Molly Anderson is currently a freshman at MASH, and this is her first year writing for The Torch. Molly also plays basketball and is a part of student council in addition to working on the school newspaper. In her free time, Molly likes to hang out with friends, shop, play flag football, and watch movies. Molly has 3 sisters, one of whom is a senior at MASH, Abby.
Reet Athwani is currently a junior at MASH. This is her second year at MASH and her first year writing for The Torch. Reet enjoys biology and is looking forward to pursuing it as her career. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, painting and reading. A fun fact about Reet is that she likes to collect silver rings.
George Bartholomew is currently a sophomore at MASH, and this is his first year writing for The Torch. He is also a part of Concert Chorale, MASH Phil., and the fall play (Snow White). When he is not in some theatre production or other, he is usually hanging out with friends, in the music wing, or reading a good book. He is super excited for his first year on The Torch and cannot wait to get started!
Claire Butz is currently a sophomore at MASH. This is her second year writing for The Torch. In addition to working on the school newspaper, Claire is a member of the field hockey team, lacrosse team, student council, orchestra, and MASH Aevidum. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, baking, traveling, and spending time with her family and pets.
Amelia Chuckalovcak is currently a sophomore at MASH and this is her second year writing for The Torch. Along with writing for the school newspaper, Amelia runs for the cross country and track teams, and takes part in the musicals. In her free time, she loves traveling, reading, going to concerts and spending time with friends.
Navreet Dhaliwal is a freshman at MASH and a first-year member of The Torch staff. She is also involved in the school's symphony strings orchestra and student council, where she enjoys being active in both arts and leadership. In her free time, Navreet loves to hang out with her friends and spend time with her family.
Reshma Dhungel is a senior at MASH, and this is her first year writing for The Torch. She is currently the culture heritage cabinet leader in the student council. Reshma is also a Link Crew leader. Reshma is currently a blue belt in taekwondo. In her free time, Reshma likes to travel and hang out with her friends and family--mainly cousins and siblings.
Anna Dormer is a sophomore at MASH with a love for writing. This will be her second year writing for The Torch. In addition to the newspaper, Anna participates in extracurriculars, including student council, the musical, and has been dancing for over 11 years. She is also a member of the choir and loves reading, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family in her free time.
Alevia Durham is currently a senior at MASH, and this is her third year writing for The Torch. Aside from working on the school newspaper, Alevia is a member of the Studio ‘91 Competition Dance Team. When she isn’t at school, Alevia enjoys choreographing her own dances, reading, writing, and publishing books. When she manages to find free time, she loves spending time with her friends and family at baseball games and concerts.
Alexis Fedoriw is currently in her junior year at MASH, and this is her second year writing for The Torch. Not only does she work on the school newspaper and manage the Instagram, Alexis is also a member of the varsity girls' tennis team, link crew, the National Honor Society, Model UN, and Project LIT. In her free time, she loves cooking, exercising, traveling, shopping, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
Chelsea Guan is currently a senior at MASH, and this is her fourth year writing for The Torch. In addition to the school newspaper, Chelsea is a part of the Speech & Debate team, school orchestra, student council, Link Crew, as well as enjoying getting involved with the school’s literary magazine, The Muse. Outside of school, she can be found battling her procrastination in the public library, rewatching her favorite movies, and baking banana bread.
Emily Jogi is a sophomore, and this is her first year reporting for the school newspaper. Along with writing for The Torch, Emily also is a member of the Speech and Debate team. Outside of her busy academic schedule, Emily enjoys exercising, reading, crafting, and spending time with her siblings.
Shahd Khalafalla is currently a sophomore at MASH, and this is her second year writing for The Torch. In addition to working on the school newspaper, Shahid is part of the Technology Student Association club. In her free time, she enjoys reading, drawing, and spending time with family and friends.
Chloe Luft-Hoover is currently a sophomore at MASH, and this is her first year writing for The Torch. Outside of writing for the newspaper, she is involved in student council and the MASH swim team. In her free time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending time with her friends.
This is Liliana’s senior year and fourth time writing for The Torch! Other clubs that she's involved in are the National Honor Society, student council, Link Crew, and Speech and Debate. She’s also involved with a lot of music programs at MASH, including the play, musical, choir, and a select choir group called Wildcat Singers. In her free time, she likes to play guitar, write, read, and cook. She also loves to spend time with friends and family.
Ethan is a tenth grader with a passion for music and swimming. He’s a very proud member of the MASH Orchestra, and he now serves as the section leader for the basses, bringing authentic leadership to performances. Ethan continues to be in MASH swimming, where dedication and determination are the keys to success. Family life is exciting with two siblings (one is his twin) who make every day as fun as the last. With three passports, he carries a very interesting global background that fuels his interest in travel and meeting people from around the world. Looking ahead, Ethan is looking forward to pursuing a career in cybersecurity, combining his love for technology with his problem-solving skills to make a difference in the digital world.
Kyle Moreno is a junior at MASH who has written for The Torch for three years in a row. He loves to write, run on the XC team, build robots and animatronics in TSA, and create stories in D&D. He is fond of the STEM area, and one can regularly find him working on some home projects, like building model rockets and coding applications. He is an enormous space fan, and has been since he visited the Kennedy Space Center when he was young. He loves to spend time with family and friends outside of work and take long trips out of the country.
Isimeme Okebhagbe is currently a sophomore at MASH, and this is her first year writing for The Torch. In addition to working on the school newspaper, Isimeme is a part of the Speech & Debate team. In her free time, Isimeme enjoys coaching soccer, babysitting, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
Chloe Querry is currently a sophomore at MASH, and this is her second year writing for The Torch. Along with writing for the newspaper, Chloe is part of the cabinet leadership team for the student council, the jazz band, Concert Chorale, the MASH musicals, and MASH Philharmonic. She enjoys playing her instruments, singing, dancing, and spending time with her friends and family.
Campbell Shover is currently a sophomore at MASH. This will be her first year writing for The Torch. Aside from writing for The Torch, Campbell is a part of the MASH color guard/marching band, and the fall play. In her free time, Campbell enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, and baking.
Along with these incredible student writers, Mrs. Julie Ebling and Mrs. Michelle Heiser are the co-advisors of The Torch.
This is Mrs. Heiser's 30th year teaching Ninth Grade English, and she has also advised the school newspaper for over 25 years. When she is not at school, or busy grading papers, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, a fellow educator and coach, two sporty sons, and an active and loveable goldendoodle named Lincoln. She also loves hiking, shopping, traveling, cheering on her favorite football team, the Eagles, and reading good books.
Mrs. Ebling has been teaching at MASH for six years now and has co-advised the newspaper with Mrs. Heiser for the past four years. When she's not teaching English, she leads the Creative Writing elective and oversees the student collaboration of The Muse literary arts magazine. Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their mini-Australian shepherd, Ozzy. She loves gardening, hiking, baking, and of course, reading.
