Day to Day Schedule (2026)

Week 1: Introductions and Expectations (8/18 - 8/21)

Monday, 8/17 :  

NO SCHOOL

Tuesday, 8/18 :  

• Introductions, Ice Breaker 

• Log into Google Classroom and find Mr. Petrillo's website

Wednesday, 8/19:  

• Begin 3 Truths and a Lie....template found in Google Classroom. Open the slides presentation found at this LINK  (link will be in Google Classroom and completion will be a grade).  Students create their slide due tomorrow.

Thursday, 8/20:

• 3 Truths and a Lie.  Open the slides presentation found at this LINK  (link will be in Google Classroom and completion will be a grade).  Look at some finished slides to start class :)

• When experiments go wrong

• Discuss how to properly conduct an experiment.  Students will be given different experiments, identify the variables, determine if a control is possible, and design an experiment...presentation link.

• Break students into groups and have them identify parts of an experiment. Presentation (Tomorrow)

• Simplified definitions for terms

Friday, 8/21:  

• Finish notes/terms for parts of an experiment.

• Students break into groups and create a slide showing parts of an experiment based upon which experiment they are assigned found in this document.  Submit this as a grade in Google Classroom.

Week 3: (8/24 - 8/28)

Monday, 8/24 :  

• Shrimp DO NOW

• 15 minutes to submit Identifying Parts of Experiment into Google Classroom.

• Review answers to parts of an experiment slide they turned in.  

Tuesday, 8/25 :  

• First science investigation -Students hypothesize height of grass grown under different colors of light.  Record data unto this spreadsheet which is in Classroom.

• Students move from table to table measuring the grass grown under different lights and filling in the spreadsheet.

• Students should have completed Data table on this PAGE. Students learn to create graph from spreadsheet.  Practice using this spreadsheet.

• Remind of quiz tomorrow on parts of an experiment.

Wednesday, 8/26:  

• Quiz on identifying parts of an experiment about spotted lanternflies...posted in Google Classroom

• How to make a graph using spreadsheets Practice

• Launch..."What is a characteristic you have that proves you are a living thing?"

Thursday, 8/27:

• Students go to lab tables w/white boards to generate list of characteristics of life about pictures in Launch document

• Launch

• Begin discussion of Characteristics of Life that are found in this document...Study Notes...Skeletal Notes

Friday, 8/28 :  

• Finish characteristic of life notes

• Google Question:  Could an advanced robot be considered alive?  Classwork/Homework

Week 4: (8/31 - 9/4)

Monday, 8/31 :  

• Work on Robot question for 20 minutes, finish for HW.

• Introduce Characteristics of Life questions assignment that was posted in Google Classroom.

Tuesday, 9/1 :  

• Introduce students to Life Science Vocabulary and List #1...Quiz 9/3

• For homework, students create Quizlet flashcards for vocabulary words. Quizlet or any version of flashcards and quiz due Monday...Google Slides template

• Continue Characteristics of Life questions assignment that was posted in Google Classroom.

Wednesday, 9/2:  

• Work on Flashcards, studying for quiz or Characteristics of Life assignment

• If time...Begin  Crosscutting Concepts Discussion. ...Student Poster. CCC Presentation Notes

Thursday, 9/3:

• Vocabulary List #1...and check flashcards

Wednesday, 9/9:  

• 15 Minutes to work on Homework/Classwork - Google Question on Cause and Effect

• Continue with Crosscutting Concepts reviewing Systems and System models

• Give time to start Cause and Effect Google Question

Thursday, 9/10:

• 10 minutes to complete Cause and Effect Question in Classroom

• Notes Energy & Matter and Structure and Function

• Scale, Proportion and Quantity Google Question Homework

Friday, 9/11 :  

• Finish Crosscutting Concept notes

• Crosscutting Concept Systems through Stability questions (Classwork)

• Notes up through Eukaryotic Cells

• Set up microscopes and students look at prepared slides of cells, unicellular organisms, or cells from multicellular organisms.

• Read information and watch video linked in this document and then answer questions #1 - #5 in this document.  Due at start of class Monday
