When conducting research or creating a multimedia presentation or visual for a school assignment, it's important to give credit to your sources and to know whether or not what you're doing constitutes fair use. When borrowing images and audio from various websites, it's important that you give credit to the source(s). If you're not sure if what you're doing is considered to be fair use, check out the videos below. For images and audio that are in the public domain and can be used with little to no citations, click on the buttons below.

Need cool, FREE images for your project?
Images you find on the internet were CREATED by someone else or another group of people, so you need to give credit to those "authors" of that work just as you would if you used someone's words from an article or story. Also, just because you can VIEW an image on the internet, doesn't mean the creator of that image would allow you to use this image in your project (even if it is for school!).
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Use websites that provide access to images that ARE openly ("Free Use/Creative Commons") shared by their creators for you to use and modify/change for your projects.
Here are some resources to help you find FREE USE images:
Google Images: You can use their "Creative Commons" filter to limit a Google Image Search for only those images that are shared by their creators. After typing in a search term, you would limit the results by clicking TOOLS --> Usage Rights --> Creative Commons. Then just remember to cite your source (the website from which you obtained the image).
Pixabay.com is a great example of a site that will allow you to search for and legally use images for your schoolwork. Make sure to use the "SAFE SEARCH" option and skip past the "sponsored" results in order to access the free results. In order to cite these photos, you can include the hyperlink for your images, so citing is easy.
PhotosforClass.com is another great example of a site that will allow you to search for and legally use images for your schoolwork. It also provides the SOURCE CITATIONS for your images, so citing is more of a breeze.
