Painting 1 provides students an experience in several mediums while learning a range of techniques and approaches. Traditional media may include ink, watercolor, and acrylics. Students will also learn to paint digitally using the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. Creativity, design, and problem solving will be a focus of the class as students work through prompts.

Everyone come in with a baseline of skill. As the teacher my role is much like a gardener. I will try give you what you need to grow from your current state.


What will I be painting?

You will work with a range of subject matters including still life, portraiture, landscape, illustration, & abstraction.

All work must be appropriate for as this is a public high school.

Please refrain from creating work with nudity, drugs/alcohol, violence, or political messages.

What will I be painting with?

iPad Pros & Apple Pencils

Each student will have access to an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil. Students will be able to work in Procreate to create digital works. iPads are not available for use outside of the classroom.

Sketchbooks

You may want to keep a sketchbook for this class but it is not required. It can be any size, binding, or paper type that you like to work with. If you already have one started, just keeping working in that one.
