Many Americans refer to "Dr. Google" for answers to their health questions. In 2023, some of the most-Googled health questions were: "How contagious is strep throat" and "how to reduce cholesterol?" (source)
What happens when we start using Dr. ChatGPT? The added danger is that Generative AI does not cite sources, so users have no way of knowing where the information came from. So what if the information is inaccurate? What if AI pulls from biased sources? What if it leaves out key points? What if the sources it pulls from are written by people without the authority to write and speak on the subject? (source)
