Drawing I provides students an experience working in several mediums while learning a range of techniques and approaches. Traditional media may include graphite, charcoal, ink, pastels, color pencil. Students will also learn to draw digitally using the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil in Procreate. Creativity, communication, & craftsmanship will be the focus as students work through prompts.

Everyone come in with a baseline of skill. As the teacher my role is much like a gardener. I will try give you what you need to grow from your current state.

What will I be drawing with ?

In this class every student will have access to the following traditional materials throughout the course:

Graphite Charcoal Pen & Ink

Markers Colored Pencil Conte

Oil Pastels Chalk Pastels Collage

iPad Pros & Apple Pencils

Each student will have access to an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil. Students will be able to work in Procreate to create digital works.

iPads are not available for use outside of the art classroom.

What will I be drawing ?

Throughout the course work may involve drawing from direct observation from life, photographic sources, and imagination. Often you will be making the choice of "what" to draw.

Sketchbooks

You may want to keep a sketchbook for this class but it is not required. It can be any size, binding, or paper type that you like to work with. If you already have one started, just keeping working in that one.

All work must be appropriate for as this is a public high school.

Please refrain from creating work with

nudity, drugs/alcohol, violence, or political messages.
