The Masco TARC team had an off campus launch at Pye Brooke park. We had 4 successful launches in the time frame of 2-4pm. We will take that data and change our rockets to better match our goal. We now need to find a better spot for our egg and name our rockets! We have tested different parachutes during this launch and found one size that works best!
The grant is awarded to local TARC teams and rocketry clubs to promote model rocketry among youth organizations. It honors the late CMASS president Bill Spadafora who dedicated himself to rocketry and rocketry education. He passed away in 2015.
The Masco TARC team chose Caelum over Sol for the winning design to use in the National competition.
The team will now make multiple copies of the Caelum rocket while Sol will be used as a control rocket to gauge how weather factors such as wind and humidity affect a rocket's performance.
Mrs Piggy, a rocket designed for the TARC 2024 was finally recovered from the middle of the Ipswich River. She had an early separaration which caused her lighter half to drift almost 300 yards into the middle of the river sanctuary. She lay there hanging from a tree until she was recovered by the Rubchinuks, Masco Alumni. A special thank you to Mr and Mrs Rubchinuk for kayaking to and recovering the wilted airframe. Mrs Piggy's recovery allows us to recuperate a fully functioning altimeter and a motor casing.
9/27/25 The Sky’s the Limit for Masco’s TARC Team!
The team kicked off the season with a successful launch of their first two rockets last week. Sol and Caelum both soared over 750 feet into the air, returning safely with only minor wear. It was a true testament to the team’s engineering skills and precision.
The team is building momentum for the season ahead and they’re looking for new members to join the mission. Reach out to the team advisor, Mr. Quadros, to learn more!
