MAS11 Key Purpose: "Your support network is the solid ground from which you can propel yourself upwards".
Dear Parents/Carers,
Firstly I would like to thank those who were able to attend the Yr11 Information evening. I hope that you found it encouraging, informative and that you are confident on how to best support your child in the run up to their GCSE exams. If you were unable to attend you would by now should have received a link that will allow you access to the presentation from that evening. The following link will take you directly to the correct area on the MAS11 website if you wish to visit the presentation again.
During that evening we discussed the importance of parental support in relation to student success. We also discussed many key areas such as creating a revision timetable, the importance of using a variety of revision techniques that incorporates reading, writing, verbalising, and listening. Research has shown that combining these will lead to a 90% increase in long term learning.
You should have also received access to your child exam timetable via the MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) app. This will show you the dates and times of your child's exams , again a useful tool for parents to help support your child. If you require a password reset for this please do contact the academy directly via email on enquiries@mascallsacademy.org.uk.
I would also like to bring to your attention the new section on the MAS11 website titled as Wellbeing. Here you will find a broad selection of useful leaflets aimed at both parents and students to help with wellbeing. Topics include but are not limited to; how to handle the pressure of exams, relaxation, cognitive load and resilience. You will also find two useful websites. Kooth which is a free online service offering emotional and mental health support for young people and Young Minds which is a company that offers advice and guidance to both students and parents who may have concerns around mental health. Both of these services are free of charge and each case is treated privately and confidentially.
Lastly I would like to remind parents and students that we will be running Easter revision sessions for some subjects during the easter break. The timetable for the sessions can be found here and all invites to the sessions will be sent via your child's google classroom.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Stamato
Assistant Principal & Deputy Head of Luther King College
