Understanding Wood as a key material, including the different types, uses, benefits, pitfalls and versatility of such a great resource.
Developing confidence in using Workshop tools - that will undoubtedly come in handy in later life.
Start to explore (and see come to life) the unlimited possibilities of 3D design which is now supported by two 3D printers, as well as the existing Laser Cutter, Vinyl Cutter and CNC Router.

STATEMENT OF INQUIRY: For a designer to be successful developing an invention within a local community, they will need to work collaboratively with a client and collect resources to develop an innovative product
STUDENTS WILL: Learn all the steps in the Design Process, starting by evaluating the Design Problem [Developing a small gift box for Not on the High Street] through to researching their Client, User, chosen Materials and Functions. All before designing, developing and prototyping models of their intended Design. Once this has been chosen they then get to utilise our fantastic workshop facilities including the Fret Saws, Pillar Drills and a range of Hand Tools, finally evaluating all their hard work against the Client's Brief.
STATEMENT OF INQUIRY: Communities often identify and communicate groups through markings, badges and uniforms
STUDENTS WILL: Explore their creativity with cross curricular links from Art into 3D modelling. Utilising the latest software and hardware technology, students will learn how to be able to create sophisticated models in programs like Tinkercad, Sketchup or 2D design and then realise their ideas with the 3D printer, Laser Cutter or CNC Router.

STATEMENT OF INQUIRY: Nutritional dishes require an element of adaptation, that allows you to evaluate and develop a balanced diet in everyday lives.
STUDENTS WILL: Get to master their inner-Ramsey/Oliver/Galetti/Smyth by learning and understanding the skills required in a kitchen, the principles of a nutritious diet and how to apply their own take on some of the dishes. Supported by are outstanding Cooking Club after school students will be fully prepared for one of the most essential life skills and exciting career paths!
