About AP Classes:
College-level curriculum: AP courses are designed to be equivalent to introductory college courses, providing students with a way to pursue higher-level studies while still in high school.
National exams: After completing a course, students can take a national AP exam in May to earn college credit or advanced placement. Advanced Placement (AP) exams are scored on a 1-to-5 scale, where 5 is "extremely well qualified" and 3 is "qualified". Many colleges grant credit or allow students to skip introductory courses for scores of 3 or higher, but each college sets its own policies for what scores it will accept. The AP score is determined by combining scores from the multiple-choice and free-response sections of the exam.
Skills development: AP classes help students develop valuable skills like writing, critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving.
College admissions and standing: Taking AP courses can make a student's college application stand out and can provide advanced academic standing at the university level.
Flexibility in college: Earning AP credits can give students more flexibility in college, allowing them to pursue a double major, take more electives, or study abroad and still graduate on time.
