Green Club MMS

In this last semester of the school year, we have been very active in the Green Club! In March, we celebrated Green Day, in April Earth Day took place, and in May we participated in the Senses Art Festival, Saturday, May 13th, the different teams of the Green Club organized various playful and recreational activities for the students. Likewise, as a closing activity for the Green Club, the 3rd Beach Cleaning was carried out on Friday, May 26th. These activities foster a sense of belonging, respect for people and the sociocultural and natural environment.                                                                                                                                                                                                             

YEM  -Youth Environmental Movement- 

We participated in the "Plantaton" event in March, led by the YEM intercollegiate group. Several schools participated in this event in a symbolic ceremony to honor the recycling week. Marymount participated with the recycling paper from the classrooms and Mutaworld was in charge of measuring and weighing what was recycled in each participating school. Our school was the winner! Afterward, each school planted a tree on the Ecocampus of the British School, committing to its care and responsibility towards the environment in a collaborative and community manner. The BIS is then the home of these trees, “Ceibas Blancas”, as a sign of the unified commitment with other educational institutions.

Marymount School hosted the meeting of the YEM Environmental Network, in May. The meeting took place on Friday, May 12th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:40 p.m., in the Elementary cafeteria; where students, teachers, and representatives of the different institutions that are part of YEM participated. The meeting went very well, most of the YEM members were present and gave their speeches. The Marymount proposal to carry out an intercollegiate Beach Cleaning was approved by the YEM group for Friday, November 17th, in which the International Day of the Seas and the Air is celebrated.
