REGISTER your internship (ID-400)

Congratulations on your internship. Make sure you complete the following steps by the start of your internship semester.

STEP 1 - REGISTER your internship on Handshake.

    1. Log into your Handshake account via Marymount Portal (https://my.marymount.edu/Home)
    2. In the upper right-hand area of your main Handshake account page, click on “Career Center.”
    3. In the dropdown list, click “Experiences.”
    4. In the upper right-hand area of the page, click “Request an Experience.”
    5. In the “Experience Type” dropdown menu, please find and select your Major.
    6. In the “Term” dropdown menu, choose the term for your internship.
    7. Then go on to complete the rest of the internship details in order to submit.

STEP 2 - The Center for Career Services will verify your professional internship with:

  1. your internship site,
  2. the Interior Design Department, and
  3. the Arts & Sciences Dean's office

STEP 3 - Once your professional internship is approved, the Center for Career Services will register you in ID-400.

the internship semester

During your internship semester...

The following is a list of items to help you complete your internship experience. For a more detailed explanation of these items, please refer to your course in Canvas.

  • Time sheets: ID-400 time sheets must be completed and signed weekly by the student and on-site supervisor.
  • Reflective essays: During the semester, you must complete two (2) reflective essays.
  • Profession event: You must attend one professional events which can include attending a local ASID, IIDA, or USGBC meeting or networking event. You must submit a 300 word reflective essay within one week of the event along with proof of attendance such as a photo of you at the event or admission receipt.
  • AIM meetings: Students must complete two workshops/meetings with Doug Seidler and a phone conference with Doug Seidler and your site supervisor.

FINISHING your internship

Complete the following list of items after you have earned all hours in your internship. For a more detailed explanation of these items, please refer to the course syllabus.

    • Internship site evaluation: Students must complete the student evaluation of internship experience. The student internship evaluation is emailed to you (the student) from the Center for Career Services.
    • Site supervisor evaluation: Students must receive satisfactory written employer evaluation of student internship experience submitted by your site supervisor. The site-supervisor evaluation is emailed to your site supervisor from the Center for Career Services.

Passing grades are submitted to the registrar when all required documentation is submitted on time.
