Coaching Vacancies

The North Carolina State Board of Education and Martin County Schools recommend that coaches are work at the school or within the school system. It is also stated that, if a coaching position is not filled by a school employee then community members may fill the position until a school employee is willing to become the coach. Priority for coaching vacancies must be given to School employees. Martin County Schools require all head and assistant coaches that do not work within the school system have a background check and drug test done every 6 months. Furthermore, the results will determine if a coach will be allowed to coach at Riverside Middle School. The North Carolina State Board of Education recommends that coaches take courses on concussions, first aid, and fundamental skills. Coaches may be given the option to take courses in CPR, concussions, first aid, coaching fundamental skills for a particular sport, and driving an activity bus.
