This course is a continuation of Art Fundamentals. Students will work to develop their range of visual expression through a series of two and three-dimensional exercises. Craftsmanship and technique will be emphasized. This course is taught by Mrs. Sloane.
Students were asked to choose an animal and create 36 different drawings of that same subject. From those 36, the best 12 or so were chosen for a full-page composition. These will be scanned and compiled as coloring book pages to donate to different local organizations.
The students were asked to design a structurally sound and visually interesting, non-representational three-dimensional sculpture. The goal of the project was to experiment with the elements of line, shape, form, and space, and to create a sculpture with media limited to flat toothpicks, tissue paper, and white glue.
Students worked from original photos of flowers to create these colored pencil compositions. Colored pencil is a good transition from drawing into painting. Students are able to practice mixing and layering color, as they would with paint without leaving their comfort zone and moving to a wet media.
