Māori

We have been beginning to talk about the differences between the Treaty of Waitangi and Te Tiriti O Waitangi. 

We knew there was land loss that continues to impact Māori today. We have started to look at the words that have caused issues like 

• Rangatiratanga (similar in part to the word "Sovereignty")

• Kawanatanga "Governance" (Māori presumed this meant laws about behaviour)

• There was a spoken promise that Māori would have control of their Taonga (their treasures like Reo, religion and culture)
