Jazz Two
Overview
Objective: The purpose of this course is to teach students the concepts of the jazz genre. This includes, style, feel, and improvisation. Students will be exposed to multiple sub-genres of jazz and will also be provided the opportunity to collaboratively work in a smaller setting with students.
Course Description: This course is designed to give students an enriching experience in instrumental music education. Students will be exposed to a variety of jazz styles that represent America’s jazz heritage. In addition, students will be provided a foundation in jazz improvisation through guided practice and listening examples. Jazz band is a half credit academic class which meets second period every other day. Multiple performance opportunities will be provided to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of course content.
