A lot of times, people exclude those with disabilities because they are not informed on disabilities in general. Below, I have attached an image from the Institute on Community Integration at the U of M explaining intellectual and developmental disabilities to give a snippet of information to those who may not be aware. Additionally, inclusion begins with us. If people see others being inclusive, they may be more likely to be inclusive themselves. When in doubt, include others -- it never hurts to be kind.
If you see someone being excluded, make a point to include them yourself
If you see someone bullying, making fun of, or excluding someone because of a disability, tell them to stop
IN GENERAL: set and be the example. We may not be able to change others, but we can promote inclusion by merely being inclusive ourselves!
