March 2020—StuCo was recognized as a SWEEPSTAKES Council for the 11th time in 12 years. SWEEPSTAKES Councils receive recognition in all four of the TASC categories of DASH (Drugs, Alcohol, Safety, & Health), Energy & Environment, Pride & Patriotism, and Community Service as well as being an “Outstanding Student Council”.
Feb 2020--StuCo planned Kindness Week for MJHS and hosted the Mardi Gras Dance.
Dec 2019--StuCo volunteered at the Wonderland of Lights Santa Village and held the Five Days of Christmas and Door Decorating Contest for the staff.
Nov 2019--StuCo held the Turkey of the Year canned food drive which collected over 1500 cans for the local food pantry.
Oct 2019--StuCo hosted the District 4/19 Fall Forum at Marshall Junior High School. Member provided breakout sessions. We hosted the MJHS Fall Dance and organized Red Ribbon Week for the campus.
April 2019--StuCo hosted the District 4/19 Spring Forum at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX where we were elected District Vice President. The forum was attended by approximately 200 middle school students. The students received a campus tour and had lunch in the university's cafeteria.

February 2019--Feb. 16—StuCo sponsored the MJHS King & Queen of Hearts Dance. StuCo Members Sean McLane and Are’Anna Gill were elected King and Queen.
December--Dec. 2—We teamed up with NJHS & UTTUA to participate in the Wonderland of Lights Christmas Parade. We also volunteered at the Wonderland of Lights Santa Village and held the 5 Days of Christmas in appreciation of our MJHS staff.
November--Nov. 8-11—Along with members of National Jr Honor Society, we hosted the TASC Middle Level Conference in San Marcos, TX. We were awarded for creating a Top 5 Project, our annual career day, and a Top 5 Video about the Legacy Dance. While in San Marcos, we attended a San Antonio Spurs game to celebrate hosting a successful conference.
October--Oct. 16—StuCo attended the District 4/19 Fall Forum in Longview. Members of our council served on the program and led table shares.
September--Sept. 28—MJHS Legacy Dance was sponsored by Student Council—We’re All Mavs Here.
June --June 25-29th —StuCo members attended SLW at Austin College. When asked what their favorite part about camp was students said: meeting new people, the food, how nice their roommates were, how their small groups bonded so quickly, etc.
June --June 10th-12th —President Carol Ann Williams and Vice President Bailey Glanton represented MJHS and District 4/19 at the TASC State Steering Retreat in New Braunfels. The girls were two of four middle level students in attendance from across the state of Texas. They participated in training over parliamentary procedure and meeting ettiquete. They also helped to developed the state project and theme. The theme and project will be announced after the TASC Board of Director's meeting in August.
April --April 19—StuCo hosted the District 4/19 Spring Forum at UT Tyler. The forum was attended approximately 200 middle school students from 10 different school districts. Students listened to a presentation by UT Tyler Admissions Department, received a campus tour, and had lunch in the cafeteria before a presentation by Rahab’s Retreat in Kilgore. Prior to the campus tour, MJHS StuCo acting as the District President, led the district in a business meeting in which MJHS was once again elected District 4/19 President School.
March 26—30—Student Council held officer elections modeled after real world elections. MJHS students registered to vote and received a voter’s registration card. They had to present their card at the “poles” to vote. Officers elected for the 2018-2019 school year were Historian-Kimberly Gaspar, Parliamentarian-Keyasia Williams, Secretary-Lundy Dutton, Vice President-Bailey Glanton, and President-Carol Ann Williams.
