The music in melodrama always depicted the mood. If the mood was sad, then so would the music. If the mood was happy, the music would reflect that. During a melodramatic performance, there would be an orchestra playing below. During a melodramatic play, there would be an organ playing near. The music was always there to help the piece flow, whether it was during a romance scene or a runaway chase. The beat of the music would slow down when a slow scene would play, and while the scene was fast, the music would speed up. This was very important in melodrama, because the piece was very dependant off of the music.
