2020 MARSD ART CONTEST GUIDELINES
SPONSORED BY THE JAMIE LEVY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR VOLUNTEERISM AND COMMUNITY SERVICE & MARSD
CONTEST ENTRY OBJECTIVE AND REQUIREMENTS
Competition is to encourage and empower youth to express his/her desire for positive change through visual storytelling.
- Must be a MARSD student in Grades K-12
- Unique
- Imaginative
- Original
- 18 or younger, or 21 and younger for special needs category
- 1 entry per person
- Artwork must be created entirely by the student
- Must be submitted in a high-resolution digital format via the website so it can be reproduced into a note card format
THEMES
- Ecology/Environment
- Spreading Kindness
- Peace
- Better World / Bright Future
- No content inappropriate for school (horror, violence or sexual content).
SUBMISSION CATEGORIES
- Matawan Regional High School
- Matawan-Aberdeen Middle School
- Grades 4-5 (Lloyd Road)
- Grades K-3 (Strathmore, Ravine and Cliffwood elementary schools)
- Special needs across all schools, depending on number of submissions. Only the student can self-declare for this category.
MEDIUMS
- Paint, draw, etc.
- Photography
- 2-D and 3-D
- Anime/Manga
- Graphic design

WAIVER AND RELEASE
“Winning entries become the property of Jamie Levy Scholarship Fund and all entrants' rights to the property are assigned. Artists may display their own design(s) in a portfolio or personal collections, but may not sell or reproduce the design(s) for commercial purposes once chosen as winner(s) of the MARSD Art Contest.”
FUNDRAISING
- Goal is that winning submissions will be made into a set of notecards.
- Notecards to be sold at PTO, school stores, school book sales, communications with parents, etc.
- Proceeds go to the Jamie Levy Memorial Scholarship for Volunteerism and Community Service. Scholarship applications are available through MRHS Student Personnel Services Office.
