Supported by the "Taking Citizen Science to School" research center (TCSS in short) "Medusa Baam” Research Group collaborated with “Rambam”- a religious public elementary school located in Nahariya. The collaboration began in 2017 and continues to this day.
The purpose of the collaboration was to involve pupils in the jellyfish civil science project so that they will take part in reporting jellyfish sights on Nahariyas' shores. Another goal was to develop students' positive feelings about the marine environment and even a sense of responsibility, through learning and engaging with it. The importance of the project in terms of the school was due to the desire of the educational staff to introduce diverse, meaningful and relevant learning to the students. The collaboration included a syllabus developed by the "TCSS" in which the students were taught, and researched themselves jellyfish. In addition, scientists from the research group gave lectures at the school and had a discussion about the topics learned with the students. scientists' representative met with the students at the beach for a tour and an explanation of jellyfish reporting. The students visited the University of Haifa, where they participated in a tour guided by scientists' representatives. They also took part in a data research learning workshop conducted by the TCSS using data gathered from the “medusa baam” project.
