Becoming a social worker within the school system was the motivation behind me pursuing a degree in social work. I have always had a passion to work with children. I strive daily to be a voice for the students that I work with and to help make a difference in their life. School social workers are the link between the student, their families, the school and home. Often times, social workers are stereotyped as having a relation to DSS. Though this is true for some, being a social worker opens the door for many other career opportunities. My choice was to become a social worker at Clio Elementary to be there to help support you and your child. I work closely with the school counselor daily as we pull for one on one time with students as well as groups that focus on a variety of things including attendance, character building, test taking strategies, zones of regulation, and so much more. Classroom lessons are implemented that focus on social emotional learning. We have "lunch bunches" with students to start the year out so that we are able to meet and introduce ourselves and we continue these throughout the year as needed. I am here to support your childs learning, social engagement, sense of belonging to the school community as well as many other aspects while your child is here at Clio Elementary.
