What types of artifacts is the museum looking for?

The Marion County Heritage Center would like photographs of how Marion County citizens lived during the Covid-19 pandemic and what their thoughts and fears have been. We would love photographs of weddings and graduations during this time, how church services looked different, or explanations of how you spent your free time. We are also looking for artwork that explains emotions people have felt, limited restaurant menus, handmade mask, and really just anything that represents this time period in history.

Will my artifacts be returned to me?

That's your choice. Artifacts can be donated to the museum or on loan for a specific time period.

How do I interview for the project?

We want to hear from you about your Covid experiences. You can either fill out a written Google Forms questionnaire on the first page of website or contact Alecia Ford or Jamie Brown (contact info at the bottom of the page) to set up a time to be interviewed in person or via Zoom.

What is the purpose of the interview?

The purpose of the interview is to collect data. We will prepare infographic displays of information about how people passed time during the quarantine, what the overall major concerns were for the community, etc. for everyone to see. We will also have a portion of the exhibit dedicated to audio clips that people can listen to about others' experiences during the 2020 pandemic.

How long will this exhibit be displayed?

There isn't a time line yet, but we plan to display it in the next few months, rotate it out for other exhibits, and then possibly bring it back years from now to let future generations understand what we experienced in 2020.
