Week of December 28th, 2025
Readings: Isaiah 63:7-9; Psalm 148; Hebrews 2:10-18; Matthew 2:13-23
Reflection
Jesus enters a world shadowed by fear and danger, and from the very beginning, His life is intertwined with vulnerability. The flight into Egypt reminds us that God’s love does not avoid hardship but meets it head-on, protecting and guiding those who trust in Him. Isaiah emphasizes that God is close in our distress, carrying and lifting His people. Hebrews shows that Christ shares our suffering so that love can break fear’s hold and bring life. Even amid uncertainty, God’s presence invites us to trust, obey, and participate in this life-giving love.

God’s love sees our sorrow and comes near even when grief is unavoidable. Jeremiah laments the loss and exile of God’s people, yet God promises restoration and compassion. Psalm 8 celebrates God’s care for humanity and creation, calling us to honor and steward the life entrusted to us. Revelation points forward to a new heaven and earth where God dwells fully with creation, wiping away sorrow.
