Hello dear viewers, my name is Stacey Benares, and I am a 19 year old student fresh into college. I am currently attending a community college in Chandler called "Chandler-Gilbert Community College" in pursuit of a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) in hopes to become a travel nurse. I was raised in the tropical archipelago of the Philippines where a lot of people are impoverished but happy. Growing up, I was a very explorative child who loved pursuing adventures and risking myself in danger for the thrill that is experience and to be nurtured at a country full of beauty, I was naturally brought up to appreciate every aspect of nature and life. I'd like to think that I am different from my American peers due to the fact that our upbringings were strikingly different, and I was exposed to aspects of life that my peers have yet to experience on their own. Because I grew up in the Philippines, I was familiarized with the foreign language at home that I quickly picked up at a young age, which makes me bilingual. Throughout y years of being educated in elementary, I discovered my talents in arts and crafts and achieved multiple praises and awards for my artistic works that carried on in my later life. To have lived my life being raised in two very distinct countries (Philippines and America), I cultivated a strong interest and passion for traveling due to the experiences I've had with the drastic changes when I first moved to the United States. Some countries I have always wanted to visit since childhood includes: France, England, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, South America, and Japan ---- some of which are countries that I have already touched on during my recent travles last summer. My love for art, language, nature, and culture is what I believe makes me who I am because they are all a mixture of things that I grew up learning to love through my own experiences. In the future, I hope to travel to as many countries as I can afford so that I can learn and immerse myself within cultures that is not of my own. I strive to learn more about the world and its hidden treasures as well as pick up multiple languages in the process so that my experiences aren't limited to what I know. I hope that in the future, I will find the opportunity to be able to move to a different country where I can start an entirely new life in different places.
English isn't my best subject, but I constantly strive to do my best when it comes to writing. Essays aren't my strong point because I don't think I have achieved my fullest potential when it comes to literature. My strengths in writing lies in my ability to write down my ideas even if it's overwhelmingly random and sometimes I can hold a strong opinion about something. I know how to find reliable databases where I can use reliable resources for any research based essays due to my exposure to high level writing in high school. I am able to comprehend writing fairly well and provide the necessary feedback or constructive criticism to anyone who looks for any errors. I am very specific with my writing, and I constantly strive to write with educated intellect. My weaknesses in writing, however, lies in my lack of vocabulary. I didn't grow up reading enough books to be able to utilize vocabulary quite well, so I do find myself having to use dictionaries to help me simplify my thoughts. Sometimes, I have too many ideas to write about that my essay lacks focus and flow due to my inability to organize my thoughts in a neatly organized order. I largely lack in my ability to feel confident about my own writing abilities due to insecurities that I've cultivated overtime and the high expectations that I set on myself. In the future, I hope to be able to write with sheer confidence and be able to communicate my own ideas without hestitation. It is my goal this year to pick up reading a book in order to enhance my comprehension and expand my vocabulary. I want to stop relying on online dictionaries to articulate my thoughts and rely more on my own learning experiences to create an essay that shows my own writing ability at its rawest form.
