State funeral for the late Gov. Palacios on Aug. 2 

07/29/2025 - CNMI Governor David Apatang and Lt. Governor Dennis Mendiola announced the State Funeral for the late Governor Arnold I. Palacios will be held on Saturday, August 2, at 9 a.m. at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multipurpose Center on Saipan. Elected leaders and visiting dignitaries from across the globe will be in attendance.

The Governor’s Office said that the general public will be able to pay their final respects to the late governor during the Memorial Wake and Funeral Service at Mount Carmel Cathedral after the State Funeral from 10:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial and Internment at the Marpi Public Cemetery will follow it.

“Let us come together as a Commonwealth to honor and pay tribute to Governor Palacios' love for his people, lifelong passion of public service, and lifetime legacy,” Gov. Apatang and Lt. Gov. Mendiola said in a joint statement.
