04/07/25 - CNMI Governor Arnold Palacios has nominated former lawmaker and Department of Public Lands Secretary Sixto K. Igisomar to serve again as DPL secretary.
In an April 03 letter to Igisomar, Palacios said, “Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang and I are confident that you will devote your time and efforts to the best interests of all our people.”
The governor also informed Senate President Dennis Mendiola of the nomination as Senate confirmation is required.
He told the senator, “Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang and I are confident that Mr. Igisomar is qualified to fulfill the vital responsibilities of this office.”
In a statement to Marianas Press, Igisomar said, “I am deeply honored by the trust placed in me to be nominated to DPL, to serve the people of the Commonwealth in this capacity. I wish to sincerely thank Governor Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Governor David M. Apatang for considering me for this important role. I remain committed to ensuring that the stewardship of our public lands is carried out with integrity, transparency, and a strong sense of public responsibility.”
The nomination comes after DPL Secretary Teresita A. Santos submitted her resignation effective April 11, 2025.
