Kumoi Farms will host its third community event, the Fall Harvest Festival, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, as part of an ongoing initiative to improve swine production and promote sustainable agriculture in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). The event is open to local producers, agricultural professionals, and community members, and aligns with the farm’s Western Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (Western SARE) project objectives.
The one-day festival will feature three core components:
A farmer-to-farmer demonstration at the Kumoi Farms’ United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) piggery, where local producers can observe firsthand the tools, techniques, and research methods being applied to improve pig farming practices in the region.
An educational field day with farm tours and presentations. Simon Deleon Guerrero, owner of Kumoi Farms and Principal Investigator of the project, will present on sustainable livestock management and project objectives. Sollyann Takai, Soil Conservationist with the USDA NRCS and the project’s technical advisor, will also be present to provide conservation resources and support.
A family-friendly agretainment zone, featuring a mini petting zoo, tractor rides, a farm maze, “Simmy’s Dirt Pit” natural play area, and a local harvest patch where local producers can display and sell their goods alongside Kumoi Farms’ seasonal produce.
“This festival is a way for us to connect with the community and share what we’ve been working on,” said Deleon Guerrero. “It’s an opportunity to engage all ages—from producers to families—and highlight the importance of local agriculture.”
Registration is required and opens on September 10, 2025, through Kumoi Farms’ website and social media pages.
Admission to the farmer-to-farmer demonstration, which will begin at 10:00 AM, includes entry to the field day, which starts at 1:00 PM for local producers, ag professionals, and aspiring pig farmers.
Agretainment admission fees are $8 for children (ages 3–11) and $10 for adults (12 and up) and includes full access and unlimited participation in all featured activities from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
