07/21/2025 - Dr. Riya Nathrani, Instructional Technology Coach for K–12 at the CNMI Public School System, was honored with the prestigious GenerationAI Luminary Award last month at the International Society for Technology in Education and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development conference in San Antonio, Texas.
Selected from thousands of educators worldwide, Dr. Nathrani is one of only ten recipients of this global recognition.
“Representing the Marianas in this work means everything to me. Our islands deserve to be seen, heard, and included in the global conversation around technology and education,” Dr. Nathrani said.
The GenerationAI Luminary Award celebrates visionary educators who are transforming classrooms through innovative uses of artificial intelligence.
“I’m grateful for the recognition, but even more grateful for the chance to advocate for equity, representation, and the power of possibility with AI in the Marianas,” she added.
The ISTE-ASCD event is among the largest educational technology conferences in the world, attracting over 16,000 participants. In addition to receiving the award, Dr. Nathrani led three sessions at the conference, where she shared insights on teaching online safety, using gamification to enhance learning, and designing virtual field trips that foster real-world engagement.
